YOUNG ISRAELI EMISSARY PROGRAM
This exciting program was launched in Greenwich in September 2006.
The SNEC Israeli Young Emissary Program of Partnership 2000 is a 10 month long volunteer service experience sponsored jointly by the Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI) and the Southern New England Consortium (SNEC), a partnership of 13 Jewish Federations in Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Israeli high school graduates who choose to defer their army service are trained to serve as young ambassadors of Israel to the communities in their partnership region in Southern New England.
The mission of the Young Emissary program is to strengthen the ties between Israel and the host communities. The emissaries work in every Jewish organization here, and live with different Jewish residents of Greenwich throughout the year.

TEEN TZEDAKAH PROGRAM
When becoming a bar or bat mitzvah, one learns what is expected of a Jewish adult. One of the responsibilities prescribed in our Torah is the mitzvah of tzedakah. Now your child can start a tzedakah fund with the Jewish Community Endowment Foundation and learn to give back to the community.
Here’s how Teen Tzedakah works: The bar or bat mitzvah teen will contribute $360. Then donors from the Jewish Community Endowment Foundation will provide $360 through a matching grant. As a result, a $720 named tzedakah fund will be established from which your teen can make meaningful charitable contributions.
This fund has $720 from the “get-go” and it’s in the name of the bar or bat mitzvah (e.g. the Brooke Mitzner Tzedakah Fund). Throughout the years the fund will grow as a result of interest, investment, and (we recommend) additional contributions. Additions to the fund may be made on special occasions, such as getting a great report card or being admitted to college – or at any time – and they are always 100% tax deductible.
For more information or to establish a fund, please contact:
